Saw this over the weekend and all I can say is WOW what a great film. Brief synopsis.

A futuristic society faces extinction when no children are born and the human race has lost the ability to reproduce. The UK has descends into chaos, until the government introduces martial law. A anti government group labeled as terrorists find a pregnant woman and works to get her safely out of the UK before the government can get a hold of her for testing.

There are plenty of twists, a great chase scene and one of the best battle scenes I have seen the Normandy Landing in Saving Private Ryan. Also the gritty future was very realistic. Michael Cane and Julliane Moore and Clive Owen do a great job.

You wont be dissapointed. The battle scene at the end left us both tired and disturbed.

I'd have to say that it will be hard to beat the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan.

Is it as bloody as saving private ryan?

personally, I have seen SPR about 5 times GREAT MOVIE - once from the very begining , the next 4 times AFTER the landing at Normandy (I skipped those scenes on purpose). - I know it sets the tempo for the movie , but I can do without the mass violent scenes. the violent scenes where you know the guy don't seem to bother me as much - why? I don't know but the faceless slaughter of people gets to me.

If the ending of Children is as violent as the begining os SPR - I'll pass

No where near as bloody but very intense.

I agree that the movie is very well put together and quite entertaining. The scenes are very intense, and keep you guessing until the end.

I caught Children of Men last night. I've been wanting to see it for quite awhile now, and I definitely didn't walk out of the theatre disappointed. Maybe not in my top 5 of the last year, but great nonetheless. Actually, in the whole gritty dystopia film category, I actually much preferred V for Vendetta to Children of Men. Maybe it's just Natalie Portman tainting my objectivity though :)

Great Movie.

When watching sci-fi or futuristic movies, I always have a certain level of suspended disbelief because of things that are clearly silly. this movie didn't have any of that. Every set, every scene, every everything was 100% believable.

I would say its the best quasi-futuristic/post-apocalyptic movie I have seen in a very long time.

They pulled a good deal from the present to make the future more believable.

Danno, you were right about the WOW factor. It started a bit slow but the ending had me floored!

I'll give it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. Very good movie.
