I just read a story on Firstcoastnews.com about Jenkins Bar-bq getting robbed at gunpoint. (story - http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/spotlight/news-article.aspx?storyid=70555)
The story says that the gunman was caught on hightech video cameras and with the help of the public help identify the robber. take a look at the pictures that they give us to "help identify" the suspect!!
HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO RECOGNIZED THAT PERSON!!!! this is garbage. Every time something gets caught on tape it is a low resolution camera and you cant see anything but a blury face!!!!
With technology what it is today, there is no reason why those that can afford it dont ahve high resolution COLOR security cameras. they cant cost THAT much!

Ocean,
Things may have changed some in the past 5 or 6 years, but when I was involved in using cameras the rule was that at night or in "low light" environments, Black & White gave more definition. Color was GREAT in good light or in the daytime. At night, color has no better clarity because of the usual low light conditions.
The video in the news clip shows that the inside of the business was very low light for a camera of ANY resolution. Typically, the camera systems used by small, private businesses are the cheapest things they can buy and hook up to a standard VCR recorder deck. Damn few have the multi-channel 24 hour recorders since they cost so much. It adds to a "false sense of security" when in fact they would be better off with no system than the cheap junk usually installed.
A cheap fix to the problem would be to ILLUMINATE the business as much as possible! Had the LIGHT been adequate, cheap or expensive, color or B&W, the faces could have been seen much easier!

Video cameras are going through huge changes these days and are getting cheaper by the minute. The systems I've been involved with in St. Johns county for government buildings are suprisingly cheap. They consist of high quality full-color stationary cemeras with built in night-vision and digital video recorders that allow up to a solid week of digital recording. The technology is almost scary these days and is only getting better.
Shoot, you can get a hard-wired or wireless full color, full motion, camera with night vision and all the wires and equipment to attach it to your VCR, DVR, or computer for about $100 from X-Cam and the quality is pretty darn good.

Yeah but come on now.... It looks like a black sweatshirt hoodie pulled over a black hole that should be his face. it could be fat albert or jessie jackson for all we know!!
if they want leads at least give us something to work with.
point was that when all these banks get robbed they send out the video and you cant tell who is who, let alone identify somebody!!! there isn't a point!
