Byron Leftwich is probably going to be traded. Houston or Oakland will be his home is my prediction. In any case, his fate is pretty much sealed here. Garrard has come on too strong. Too bad, because Byron is one of the class acts of the league.

its way past the trading deadline THE ONLY WAY HE COULD BE TRADED IF THE BARRACUDAS THINK LEFTWICH CAN PLAY HOCKEY most hockey players are way to athletic for football
I DOUBT THAT LEFTWICH IS COORDINATED ENOUGH TO RIDE A BICYCLE
I'm sure he can't skate

Leftwich being traded is not a surprise. Where he is going is the interesting part. I don't think he would go to Houston or Oakland because both have terrible offensive lines. Both teams have problems protecting fairly mobile quarterbacks. Leftwich would get killed. Possible destinations I have to believe would be Cleveland, Minnesota, Detroit and Tampa Bay. All four should have an openings at the position next season. You could also see Miami, Baltimore, Green Bay and Chicago look for a new QB. The Jags should get at least a 3rd round pick for Leftwich maybe even a 2nd. He is still a young, talented player.

Neither you nor I will live to see Byron in the HoF....betcha! ;-)
I like Byron...he's a Hell of a nice guy! But my opinion of his playing ability is not skewed by my liking him! ;-)
I'm a pretty big Leftwich hater - but I was under the same impression as Dave. I think any trades have to wait until the off-season.

I think the league is a little different now, unless you have an offensive line, like INDY(cuz you rarely see Peyton hurt or on the ground)you need a QB that can make things happen with his arms and legs.I like Bryon, but I think my grandmother could beat him in a sprint.

That is a myth. Kurt Warner and Brad Johnson both won Super Bowls in the last 7 years and were among the slowest QB's in the league. And yet Donovan McNabb, Michael Vick, Jake Plummer and many other "mobile" QB's have not.

The three you mention struggle and or not consistence QBs.

Tom Brady has 3 rings, yet rushes for less yards than Leftwich has per year.
Brady was clocked at 4.99 in the 40 yard dash.

A good drop back passer is still the best way to win in the NFL IMO. Having said that Leftwich, while I really think he is a good guy, is not a good drop back passer. He is an average one for the NFL. At this time, head to head, I think Garrard is clearly better for the team. He is at least as accurate as Leftwich but can scramble which has some value at times. I would not be sad to see Letwich go.

If he is traded, he will be a good bartering chip for another player. There are plenty of teams out there looking for a descent quarterback who may be willing to give up a good reciever or offensive lineman.
We need O lineman. We have the running backs and a QB that could absolutely shine if given a good line in front of them.

Maurice Williams is clearly the weak link. Meester and Naoele are fine but are getting up there in age. Manuwai is a free agent, so he might not be back. Barnes hasn't improved much from last year but is a solid left tackle. The offensive line is an area that will get attention this offseason.

Who was the guy who got placed in the game last week from the practice squad? He sacked the QB on his fist down in his first game... maybe he could get a shot at starting.

Leftwich will be much better off somewhere else, because alot of the idiot, college-minded fans in Jacksonville don't know pro football, and they think every QB gotta run to be good. People always talk about places like Philadelphia having brutal sport fans; Look at Jax, cheering when Leftwich gets hurt. I'm not sold on Garrard at all; For all the people that think #9 is so great, wake me up when our running game has a bad day and Garrard is forced to throw the ball, we'll see a QB with tunnel vision, steadily being locked on the one primary receiver, and limited arm strength. If the Jags trade #7, it's gonna come back and bite us in the future. He's gonna go somewhere else and tear it up. IMO if #7 ain't gonna be the guy next year, I don't think #9 should be unless we see some significant improvement in the remaining games. So far Garrard didn't play no one yet that's currently over .500. We'll see how he does againist Indy, NE, and KC.

Leftwich beat Dallas, Pittsburgh and the Jets. Garrard beat the Eagles, Giants and Dolphins. Both have beaten quality teams. I hope and pray Garrard can beat the Colts tomorrow.

I think given the right atmosphere (and pay) Mark Brunell (who will be cut by the Redskins at the end of the year) would play here and would be happy to be the veteran 3rd string quarterback. Otherwise he will retire and move back here (really stay here)I think he would do it just to be on a championship team PLUS this is where his best chances of getting endorsements are
When I say the right pay I think Brunell has to be realistic NO ONE IS GOING TO OFFER HIM A STARTING JOB OR STARTING PAY but if he should be willing to play with Leftwich gone and get paid appropriately (not a lot) to carry a clipboard BECAUSE HE LIVES HERE AND HE CAN GET ENDORSEMENTS HERE
this is the most likely place he will end up if he decides to keep playing

Good evening. well, I think that Brunell should return to the Jags and I think that Garrard ahould be the starter QB. I was and still am to some degree bitter about him leaving the team awhile back. anyways, that's what I would like to see.

NYG are currently .500 at 6-6 (average). I was talking about a team that's currently more (or better) than .500.

Leftwich is a talent with a great arm, but I think his run here is over. He will have to make his bones somewhere else.
Jags will be in the market for a quarterback. I'm a believer in using the draft for a Q-back, but that would mean at least another year with Garrard at the helm. He will make or break himself with the remainder of this season.
While Brunell is a great guy and a legend here, we are well served with Quinn Gray at third spot.

The only way you keep Quinn Gray is to put a veteran behind him. If I am Quinn Gray and the Jags have Garrard and then put a rookie that will eventually start for the team in the mix I'm looking for another team
Quinn Gray has enough raw skills to one day possibly make it big in the NFL. Ironically the correct mindset you are thinking of now is what worked to get three talented quarterbacks here. But now its more important to figure out the best way to keep Garrard and Gray
